Teaching English as a Second Language
We are excited that you have an interest in serving in our E.S.L. program! Below is a description of the various positions we need to fill in order to make this program happen and be a blessing.

Fall Session

Tuesday, October 3, 2023 - Tuesday, December 5, 2023 (10 weeks)

Winter Session

Tuesday, January 9, 2024 - Tuesday, March 12, 2024 (10 weeks)

Administration Team

  • Provide general administrative oversight of the entire ESL program

Registration/Check-in Tables (Adults and Children)

  • Assist w/ weekly check-in for adult/children’s programming
  • Prepares student/children’s name tags and tracks overall attendance

Adult Teachers

  • Manages one classroom and provides instruction for their assigned English level (committed to weekly attendance)
  • Responsible for set-up/clean-up of their classroom each night
  • Plans and prepares lesson and activities using designated curriculum
  • Tracks student attendance
  • Builds relationships with each individual student
    Effectively uses their classroom helpers

Adult Classroom Helpers (Several helpers per classroom)

  • Provides support for the classroom teacher as needed - assisting them during lessons and activities
  • Assist the teacher with classroom setup/cleanup each evening
    Works in small groups with the students

Kids Club Teachers/Assistants

  • Provides recreational and educational opportunities for school-aged children
  • Provides a safe and nurturing environment
  • Engage in meaningful ways with each and every child

Early Childhood Teachers/Assistants

  • Provides oversight of all care/nurture of young children ages 3 months to 5 years
  • Provides a safe and nurturing environment
    English immersion is important for these children

Food Coordinator

  • Provides oversight of all weekly meals and groups providing those meals
  • Provides clear communication with groups providing meals regarding numbers, any food restrictions, timing of delivery, and volunteers to serve/clean up
  • Maintains a meal schedule, shared with DNA staff
  • Prepares meals on weeks we don’t have a group
  • Ensures we have all paper products (plates, napkins, etc.) and coffee/tea supplies
  • Overseas the preparation of snack each week for kids
  • Is on-site every Tuesday evening from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm to coordinate with groups, prepare kids’ snack, prepare coffee/tea for adults, and cleanup the kitchen

Meal Provider

  • Group (or individual) chooses a Tuesday night to provide a meal for ESL
  • Communicates with Food Coordinator, who relays any instructions, food restrictions, etc
  • Has meal on-site on the selected night by 5:50
